Pixotope Mascot, DOT

Product Specialist, Pixotope, 2020(?)

After Pixotope rebranded from The Future Group, I suggested I create a brand mascot, and was given full creative freedom to author a suitable character. This is going to be one of very few times you’ll see any of my messy scribbles.

As Pixotope is a virtual production company, I wanted the character to reflect that by implementing a broadcast camera, and being expressive enough to relay messages and add life to our trade show presentations and stands. After some early explorations, I quickly landed on a camera robot design, and then built it out in Blender.

The UV’s were rough, since there was an ask to use a bent normal workflow, forcing me to allocate separate UV space to all pistons and bolts, even if they were identical otherwise.

I was responsible for all concept and modelling, although some of the final head + hand work was done by Jonas Becsan. Rigging was done by David Rodriguez.
