SportsNet Virtual Studio
Creative Director, Myreze, 2021
Built for Sportsnet Canada, we collaborated on a vision of a virtual sports stadium, acting as a canvas for all their future sports coverage - with future additions being sections continuously added to empty spaces within the structure.
On this project, my responsibilities were the usual client communications in terms of feedback/dailies, as well as wrangling the creative team - but I was also a lot more hands-on, modelling a lot of the more complex architectural elements myself, as well as building out the complex, layered animating videowall that acted as a veil between the physical hard set, and the virtual sets, when talent walked onto the greenscreen.
Leaning both into Norwegian design in terms of material use, and the rugged, chilly aesthetic of Canadian Hockey, we ended up with a set of flexible, visually stunning and rich studio environments, that could be repurposed for a wide array of production needs.
The full environment consisted of two visually distinct virtual set spaces, a connective escalator corridor, and the virtual stadium snugly encompassing all of the aforementioned.
