Dota 2 The International 10

Creative Director, Myreze, 2022

On October 7, MYREZE made eSports history together with renowned gaming company Valve, airing one of the world’s largest Esports event: The International 10.

Major segments were live streamed from a virtual studio created by Myreze – viewed by over one hundred million gaming enthusiasts, and earning us a Sports Emmy.

This was both my first first time working with Valve, as well as my first time working as the Myreze Creative Director, and therefore a pretty amusing trial by fire. We worked closely with Valve on the concept, with me acting as the main point of contact, and built out an absolutely gorgeous virtual set closely following the given theme. We also ported over ALL Dota 2 heroes, and several other assets, to be used as AR during draft and explainer segments.

The set itself had multiple talent positions, as well as dynamic backgrounds in the form of several Dota 2 dioramas that could be brought in at any given point in time.

My responsibilities was wrangling our creative team, asset authoring, some of the more complicated surfacing, as well as being the main onsite VS/AR operator during the full tournament running time, with a lot of the more visually interesting one-offs being animated and scripted by me in between the broadcasts, in close collaboration with the casters.
